Traditional versus Perceived Asian Interior Design
Casual observers may think that Asian Interior Design simply means placing a few Oriental language symbols on the walls and hanging a big old gong somewhere, will symbolize Asian Interior Design. However, there is a great deal of study of ancient cultures and practices to accurately depict and represent the atmosphere of a true Asian Interior Design. The real feeling can only be achieved by careful use of decorating styles and themes developed over centuries by Asian cultures.
The Asian cultures carefully study and symbolize their beliefs and philosophies, incorporating those sacred beliefs into their daily environment. It is not uncommon to find valid examples of Asian Interior Design in the United States. In most cases this is not the common American representations Many, but not all of these are environments created to satisfy the American idea of Asian Interior Design and in fact do not reflect true representations of the true design of a traditional Asian environment.
True Asian Interior Design differs considerably from the representations of most Western cultures that have been created to satisfy perceived look and feel sought by the Western world.
Perspective
In Asian Interior Design, the concept of perspective is very important and carefully engineered. If you have ever experienced a true Asian design, you will experience a three dimensional effect of separation of space. Perspective or producing a relationship between spaces is carefully engineered. In Asian Interior Design the effect is to promote the feeling of perspective and may cause an effect such as an illusion that a room is larger that it really is.
Many Western cultures use mirrors to achieve the same effect that the Asian cultures created with design and layout. Many of the aspects of Asian Interior Design key on allowing light to flow freely without the need for electric light or any other kind of artificial light. The way an authentic Asian home is usually designed falls back to the days before electric light when the natural light was utilized to illuminate the entire house.
It is not utilized so much today but that concept of allowing outside light to flow freely is a still a valid component of Asian Interior Design.
Gold Dragons
Although Asian culture is widely known for it’s fascination with dragons, American ideas may not accurately depict and represent their place and value in Asian history. Asian Interior Design will often include simple pictures of a dragon to symbolizes the theme. These typically fail to fully represent the value and place in history reserved by ancient cultures.
True Asian cultures feature full murals that depict complex activities and sacred practices of the culture. Although dragons are a historically important part of Asian culture, the representations by western world design often fall short of depicting the depth and importance of their place in Asian life. Western cultures utilize these themes but if you get closely examine authentic Asian Interior Design you will see small scrolls made of bamboo with a history of beliefs and activity represented by them.
This practice of preserving with wall hangings has been occurred for centuries and has survived into modern times.
